Subject: Notice of Manufacture Discontinued Support for 2001 DigitalOcean® Product

With the recent release of the 2004 Edition of DigitalOcean®, NDI will no longer support the 2001 Edition as of July 1st, 2004.

Current Use

The 2001 Edition has an encryption scheme, which requires users to "unlock" their CD prior to use. 2001 Edition users who have a valid license can currently receive an "unlock key" either online or by calling NDI directly. The license is valid 12 months from the date of installation. All CDs that have been unlocked will continue to work on the computer that unlocked them. Any charts that have been installed will continue to work.

On July 1st, 2004, the 2001 Edition users will no longer be able to "unlock" their CDs on a different computer and furthermore, users will not be able to install the CDs again. If the user's computer malfunctions or if the user upgrades their system, they will not be able to use their CD.

Recommended Action

2001 Edition users are strongly encouraged to trade-in their product and obtain a current 2004 Edition. Computer equipment may fail at any time. NDI advise users not to navigate on a computer system that cannot be restored after a failure.

Nautical Data International Inc. (NDI) and Garmin International Inc.  Reach Agreement That Will Enhance Cartography in Canada

August 7, 2003

OLATHE, Kan. — Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (Nasdaq: GRMN), today announced that it has signed a new long-term license agreement with Nautical Data International, Inc. (NDI) for rights to its entire library of digital marine cartography.

“NDI has always offered high-quality electronic charts for boaters in Canada,” said Gary Kelley, Garmin’s Director of Marketing. “We’re pleased to announce that our agreement with NDI allows us access to the most detailed, comprehensive, and accurate charts available for mariners in Canadian waters.”

The new NDI data will appear in Garmin’s latest revision of its MapSource® BlueChart® marine cartography software. In addition to already covering the entire coast of British Columbia, Garmin now offers enhanced coverage of Lake Superior, Lake Huron, Lake Ontario, North Channel, Georgian Bay and Lake of the Woods / Rainy Lake. This newest version of BlueChart data is currently available in data card format, and will be available on Americas BlueChart CD-ROM in September 2003.

BlueChart is Garmin's exclusive marine cartography, featuring digital maps that closely match paper charts and feature depth contours, spot soundings, port plans, inter-tidal zones, wrecks, navaids, restricted areas, cable areas, anchorages, tide prediction, port services and much more.

“NDI is very pleased to have partnered with one of the world’s leading GPS and chart plotter developers who also has some of the most innovative cartography products available today,” stated Mohammad Al Zaibak, CEO of Nautical Data International, Inc. “Garmin’s MapSource BlueChart software combined with NDI’s DigitalOcean® Charts will provide our customers in Canada and the USA with the most technologically-advanced navigation aids.”

NDI is the sole worldwide distributor of the official Canadian electronic navigation charts and other digital nautical information under a multi-year agreement with the Government of Canada. Through the foresight of the Canadian Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) and in partnership with the Canadian Hydrographic Service (CHS), NDI has successfully developed a comprehensive digital cartography database comprised of thousands of nautical charts and other marine information covering navigable Canadian waters and coastal zones. NDI, a private Canadian company based in St. John’s, Newfoundland, distributes its CHS’ certified data products under the brand DigitalOcean® for the recreational boating, recreational and commercial fishing, and commercial shipping navigation purposes as well as for other non-navigation applications. For more information, visit www.digitalocean.ca or contact Greg Mercer at 1-800-563-0634 or 1-709-576-0634. DigitalOcean® is a registered trademark of NDI.

The Canadian Hydrographic Service (CHS) is mandated to collect, compile, publish, and distribute hydrographic charts and related nautical publications to facilitate safe and efficient navigation throughout Canadian and adjacent international navigable waters.
