Announcement - CHS & NDI
St. John’s, NL, Canada, February 19, 2007 – Nautical Data International, Inc. and the Canadian Hydrographic Service are pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached between the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) and Nautical Data International (NDI) for DFO to buy back its rights from NDI under the Revised Canada/NDI Agreement (“RCNA”). The RCNA is a sole licence agreement between DFO and NDI for the distribution of Canadian Hydrographic Service (CHS) electronic charts and data. The closing date for the buyback agreement is March 30, 2007.
The buyback agreement allows for an orderly transition to CHS of NDI’s current responsibilities under the RCNA.
Until March 30, 2007, continue purchasing digital charts and obtaining updates and technical assistance from NDI at
www.digitalocean.ca
Upon closing, CHS will assume responsibility for production, marketing, sales and distribution of its digital charts and data, including licensing value-added resellers (VAR) and dealers. Instructions on how to purchase digital products from CHS, become a dealer or a VAR or obtain technical assistance, will be posted on the CHS website at
www.charts.gc.ca
